Sockit Studio Defined

Founded in 1999, Sockit Studio has risen as the sum of education and experience of its owner and head engineer Devon Kirkpatrick.

Devon was educated at the U.S.'s premier recording school, Full Sail Center For The Recording Arts in Orlando, Florida, graduating in 1994 as class Valedictorian with perfect attendance and the Studio Maintenance Course Directors Award.

After graduation, Devon went to New York City where he was an Engineer and Assistant Engineer for Unique Recording (closed in 2004). Outgrowing that studio in a few months, he moved on to one of the best studios in the country and one of a few like it in the world, Sony Music Studios NYC (closed in 2007). Sony had a stage large enough to hold a 90+ piece orchestra and the capabilities to broadcast and produce shows such as A&E Live By Request, Hard Rock Live, and Sessions at West 54th. Sony/BMG houses the largest tape vault and archiving department of the big four labels, offering mastering in house as well as post production, video, and five multi-million dollar recording studios. Devon specializing in recording, was exposed to all of these disciplines and has worked as an assistant engineer or Pro Tools engineer on numerous GRAMMY winning albums. Most notable was his Pro Tools Engineering work for Lauryn Hill's The Miseducation Of Lauryn Hill which won four GRAMMYs ( including album of the year )in 1999. Devon's project involvement encompasses 5 GRAMMY wins, 12 GRAMMY nominations and multi-platinum album projects totaling more than 50 million units sold in the United States.

A recent client had this to say about us:

"Thanks Devon, for making ( in light of 7 MTV crew on us the whole time! ), what could have been a very stressful session so enjoyable....technically the studio was certainly up to the mark ( David and I kept thinking we were in N.Y.!) but I was particularly impressed with the creative environment.... chilled and very conducive to writing as well as recording, which was essential to us getting some really strong ideas down for Nick's [Lachey] record. Also, please thank the assistants for me... they knew exactly what we needed, in terms of space and errands....we couldn't have asked for more mate!!!---Tom Nichols ( Celine Dion, Jessica Simpson, Kylie, Hall & Oats, Lindsay Lohane )
